SC allows N Srinivasan to take charge as BCCI President

The Supreme Court today allowed N Srinivasan to take charge as BCCI President. The Apex court has constituted a three-member committee headed by former Punjab and Haryana Chief Justice Mukul Mudgal to inquire into the allegation of betting and spot-fixing against Srinivasan's son-in-law and owners of Rajasthan Royals.Srinivasan had stepped aside from his post after his son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan was arrested in connection with the spot-fixing scandal.He was later restrained by the apex court from taking charge after being re-elected as President. A bench of justices A K Patnaik and J S Kehar, appointed a new committee to probe the IPL spot fixing allegations and asked the Committee to submit its report in the apex court preferably within four months.The apex court directed the BCCI and Mr. Srinivasan not to interfere in the probe and directed to cooperate with it by providing all information.The office-bearers of the BCCI today welcomed the Supreme Court's order which allows president N Srinivasan to discharge his functions.BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel said the Board accepts the court order with utmost humility.
