Supreme Court has agreed to hear tomorrow petitions by some states and private medical colleges seeking permission to continue with their separate test for admissions in MBBS and BDS courses.<br/><br/>The apex court today also setup a 3-member panel to oversee functioning of the Medical Council of India with regard to the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET). The panel will be headed by former chief justice of India R M Lodha.<br/><br/>The top court today also upheld the provisions of a Madhya Pradesh law which enables govt to have 50 per cent shares in management seats in private dental colleges.<br/><br/>The court had cleared the decks for holding NEET, a single common entrance test, for admission to MBBS and BDS courses for the academic year 2016-17, last Saturday.<br/><br/>As per its order, all government colleges, deemed universities and private medical colleges will be covered under the NEET. Those examinations which have already taken place or slated to be conducted separately stand scrapped.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, Over six lakh students appeared for the first phase of the entrance test yesterday. The second phase of the test will be held on the 24th of July.
