SBI to open 25 new branches in Assam

In view of growing volume of business, the State Bank of India is planning to open 25 more branches during the current fiscal in Assam. The bank is also increasing its ATM strength. According to Mr O.P.Bhatt, the Chairman of State Bank of India, the bank has taken decision to this effect to meet the demand of the customers. He also said that the bank is also planning to enhance the ATM strength up to 1000 mark in Assam within next three months. Providing feedback on the North East, Mr Bhatt revealed that SBI is in the process of recruiting over 20,000 staff in a phased manner across the country. There are about 700 vacancies in the north east region and all the existing vacancies will be filled up, he added. Regarding the Financial Intelligence Unit report on 35,000 cases of counterfeit notes, he said that new machines have been installed in various branches to check the menace.
