An important political group, Save Arunachal Forum has demanded review of all hydro power projects in the state alleging that most of them were awarded to ambiguous and benami companies. Addressing the media in New Delhi President of the Forum Kalinga Zerang said that such MoUs must be investigated by a Parliamentary Committee or by a body headed by sitting Supreme Court or High Court judge. He said Arunachal Government has allotted 137 projects to private and public sector companies for generation of over 40000 megawatt power out of which 120 projects belong to private players. He said both the Union Environment Minister Mr. Jairam Ramesh and CAG have expressed concern over the allotment of projects in alleged violation of rules.
