Saudi Arabia Health Minister Abdullah al-Rabeeah has said that his country will not bar anyone considered high-risk for swine flu from performing the Haj pilgrimage this year. He said in Riyadh that Saudi Arabia does not ban anyone because Haj is a religious event and his country has put in place recommendations and hope that individual countries will abide by them.

The Haj has become a cause of concern for world health officials because of the density of pilgrims, with shoulder-to-shoulder contact as they pray. It has raised fears of a massive spread of swine flu. The pilgrimage attracts about three million people from 160 countries annually and begins this year on the 25th of November.
