Saudi Arab decides to join UN Nuclear Safety Convention

The Saudi Arab government has decided to join the United Nations (UN) Nuclear Safety Convention. According to official Saudi Press Agency, the Cabinet has approved the convention on Nuclear Safety which was adopted in Vienna on 17 June 1994. It has 66 signatories and is overseen by the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The world’s number two oil producer, Saudi Arabia does not operate any nuclear plants so far.
