Home minister P Chidambaram has said there was minimal presence of CPI (Maoist) in the border areas of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
Speaking to reporters in Itanagar after assessing the security scenario in the region, specially Tirap and Changlang districts with the Meghalaya Chief Minister and senior officials he said, Assam had started to take stern action against them.
He said the state police had been directed to take stern action against CPI (Maoist) cadre. Home minister said that he was satisfied with security scenario of the state.
He assured the Chief Minister the Centre would help to established more police stations and recruit more police personnels in the state. Chidambaram also assured to provide more money for development of the border areas of the state.
