Satirist, comedian Jaspal Bhatti dies in road accident

Jaspal Bhatti , a popular social satirist, died in a road accident in Jalandhar in the wee hours today. His son Jasraj is also injured in the mishap.

Jaspal was famous for his street plays like “My Nonsense Club”. Before venturing in to television, he was a cartoonist for a popular daily from Chandigarh.

He acted and directed the immensely popular TV series like “Ulta Pulta” and “Flop Show” for Doordarshan television network. What attracted audience to his shows was his gift of inducing humour to highlight every day issues of middle class in India.

Reportedly, he was on his was on way to Nakador from Bhatinda for the promotion of his upcoming film “Power Cut”which is going to be released on 26th Oct 2012.

Jaspal Bhatti's son Jasraj is making his debut through 'Power Cut' Sources said that accident occured whenJaspal Bhatti's car collided with a trolley. Bhatti`s son and actress of his upcoming film also got injured in the mishap.

Both the injured have been admitted to the hospital. Born on 3 March 1955 in Rajput sikh family of Amritsar Jaspal Singh Bhatti graduated from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh as an electrical engineer. He was famous for his street plays like Nonsense Club.

Most of these plays were spoofs ridiculing corruption in society.
