The mortal remains of Sathya Sai Baba, were laid to rest this morning at the Kulwant Hall at Puttaparthi in Andhra pradesh. Watched by a galaxy of political personalities and hundreds of his followers, Sathya Sai Baba, whose message of universal love and brotherhood attracted millions of followers across the globe, was buried amidst chanting of Sai mantras. The spot is now expected to become an eternal memorial for the Guru. Around five lakh people from various parts of the country and abroad had filed past the body to have a final glimpse of their spiritual guru. Sai Baba had died on Sunday morning after fighting illness for nearly a month caused by multi-organ failure.A tearful farewell was given to Sathya Sai Baba of Puttaparthy today. Millions around the world watched the last rites of Sainath held in Kulwant Hall of Prashanti Nilayam this morning. Former Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani, Governor of Andhra Pradesh and Punjab, Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, BJP senior leader Venkaiah Naidu, former Andhra Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and many others took part in the last journey of Baba who had worshippers from all sects and religion. Baba was laid to rest in the same place where he used to give discourses and sat listening to Bhajans when alive. The national flag was draped over the cascade in which Baba’s body was kept and twenty-one gun salutes was offered. Priests from all religion read out scriptures from their holy books. Bhajan-Kirthans were recited by the gathering amidst veda ghosh. After the mangalarathi, dignitaries and others offered vibhuthi, earth and holy water to the mortal remains of Baba buried in Kulwant Hall. The ritual which began at 9.00 am concluded at around 10.45 AM.
