Sasikala surrenders in Bengaluru jail, Sudhakaran and Ilavaras also surrenders

Following confirmation of four years jail term in the disproportionate assets case, AIADMK leader VK Sasikala and two of her close relatives surrendered before Bengaluru court and were lodged into prison this evening. The three were subjected to medical tests and were sent to the high security prison. Earlier, Ms Sasikala paid homage at late AIADMK leader J.Jayalalithaa's cemetery on Marina Beach in Chennai and the party founder MG Ramachandran's memorial. <br/><br/>Meanwhile, the newly elected Legislature Party leader of the AIADMK, Mr Edappadi K. Palaniswamy flanked by his key associates visited Raj Bhavan in Chennai. Mr Nainar Nagendran, a former minister in his camp at Kuvathur resort told press, they would insist Governor Vidyasagar Rao to invite him at the earliest to form the new government. A delegation of acting chief minister O.Panneerselvam is also expected to visit Raj Bhavan to stress their demand to give an opportunity to prove their majority support on the floor of the House.<br/>The appointment of Ms Sasikala's close relative TTV Dinakaran to the post of AIADMK Deputy General Secretary in her absence has created rumblings within the Sasikala faction, as one of its organising secretaries, Mr Karuppasamy Pandian, has switched over to the O.Panneerselvam camp.<br/> <br/>Our correspondent reports that key developments on formation of next government are expected to emerge any day soon. The opposition DMK has asked all its MLAs to be present in Chennai as the Assembly can be convened to verify support of legislators to the chief minister aspirants. Most of the party MLAs have converged in the city. In another development, the police entered into the Kuvathur resort near Chennai and made an inquiry if the MLAs are staying there for the eight day today out of compulsion. The action came as an MLA yesterday made charges that many are there out of compulsion.

AIADMK General Secretary V K Sasikala Natarajan, <br/>who was convicted by the Supreme Court in disproportionate assets case, surrendered before the Special Court in Bengalaru today. Other two convicts Sudhakaran and Ilavaras also surrendered.<br/> 'Earlier in the day, Supreme Court rejected her plea seeking four weeks' time to surrender on health grounds. Sasikala, after paying her tribute to late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa at her 'Samadi', arrived in Bengalaru by road.
