Sashastra Seema Bal commemorating '59th Raising Day' with commitment to safe, secure, and prosperous India

Sashastra Seema Bal is commemorating its '59th Raising Day' today with the commitment to a safe, secure, and prosperous India.
''
'' Sashastra Seema Bal, SSB is a border guarding force of India, which guards the nation's border with Nepal and Bhutan. It is one of the five Central Armed Police Forces and it works under the administration of the Ministry of Home Affairs. In the aftermath of the 1962 India-China war, it was felt that the borders of India should need an additional force along with the Tri-Forces (Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force).
''
''Additionally, the force should have an in-depth understanding and familiarity of the terrain as well as the culture and ethos of the border population. All this led to the creation of a unique, unconventional yet specialized force, which we today know as 'Sashastra Seema Bal'. The force functions in the far-flung and vulnerable topographic region, and difficult border areas and motivates the border population across several states towards the cause of protecting India's sovereignty. SSB was conceived in November 1962 under the name of 'Special Service Bureau', which was eventually created in March 1963 with the sole purpose of achieving 'Total security preparedness in the remote border regions.
