French President Nicolas Sarkozy on Tuesday paid homage to seven French soldiers killed last week in Afghanistan. A somber ceremony was held in Paris on Tuesday attended by French military leaders. Last week was one of the deadliest for French troops during their involvement in the Afghan conflict. The French government is to begin a troop drawdown in 2012 ahead of the complete withdrawal of all French troops from Afghanistan in 2014.
