L Sarita Devi (64kg), Sonia Lather (57kg) and Lovlina Borgohain (69kg) entered the semifinals in the Asian Women's Boxing Championships at Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam today. By reaching the last four stage, all three boxers assured themselves of medals. Sarita, a former world champion, defeated Maftunakhon Melieva of Uzbekistan, while Sonia edged past Kazakhstan's Nazym Ichshanova in the quarterfinals. Borgohain defeated Erdenetuya Enkhbaatar of Mongolia by an unanimous decision.Yesterday also was a fruitful day for India, with Olympic medallist M C Mary Kom (48kg), Priyanka Choudhary (60kg) and Shiksha (54kg) booking their places in the semifinals.
