Saradha scam: WB Transport Minister Madan Mitra remanded to CBI custody till Dec 16

The Alipore Court in Kolkata on Saturday remanded the West Bengal Transport and Sports Minister Madan Mitra to CBI custody till 16th of this month. The court also granted CBI custody to Naresh Balodia the legal advisor of Sudipta Sen for the same period. The CBI arrested them yesterday in connection with the Saradha Chit Fund Scam. The ruling Trinamool Congress supporters showed demonstration in front of the court premises terming Mitra’s arrest a deep rooted conspiracy.

Meanwhile, the Trinamool Congerss Supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Miss Mamata Banerjee has said that her party MPs will protest in Parliament against BJP’s politics of vendetta. Addressing a protest rally after the arrest of Mira in Kolkata this afternoon, Miss Banerjee said that the CBI has lost all credentials and people of Bengal will not tolerate such insult. She questioned that there are images of the Prime Minister with Sahara Chief then should we demand that CBI arrest the Prime Minister?

AIR Kolkata Correspondent reports that the ruling Trinamool Congress Staged demonstrations at different parts of the state to protest the arrest of the State Transport Minister Mr. Madan Mitra. Blockade of roads and rail tracks by Trinamool Congress supporters were also reported from different parts of the states. The main protest procession was stared from Maidan area of Kolkata where Chief Minister Miss Mamata Banerjee and several prominent sportsmen took part.

Meanwhile, Left Parties today also took out a procession in Kolkata demanding arrests of all accused in Sardha Chit Fund Scam. The Opposition Leader Dr. Suryakanta Mishra has demanded immediate interrogation of Chief Minister Miss Mamata Banerjee by the CBI on her involvement with the Saradha Group.
