In West Bengal, the jailed Trinamool Congress MP Kunal Ghosh was admitted to a hospital in Kolkata this morning after he tried to commit suicide. Additional Director General, Prisons, Adhir Sharma told AIR correspondent that Ghosh had attempted to commit suicide by swallowing sedative pills.
He said, Ghosh was shifted to the hospital from Presidency Correctional Home where his condition is stated to be stable now. A suicide note and sleeping pills were also recovered from his cell in the jail.
Ghosh was arrested in connection with the Sarda Chit Fund scam last year. He threatened to commit suicide when he was produced before the special CBI court probing the scam in Kolkata last Monday demanding immediate arrest of those who were involved in the scam.
Meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate yesterday questioned three officials of the Indian Railway Tour and Catering Corporation on their agreement with the Sarda tour and travel.
