Central Bureau of Investigation, CBI has arrested West Bengal Transport Minister Madan Mitra in connection with multi crore Saradha chit fund scam. CBI sources said, Mitra has been arrested on prima facie evidence of criminal conspiracy, cheating, misappropriation and deriving undue financial benefits from the group.

Mr. Mitra a close confidant of the West Bengal Chief Minister Ms. Mamata Banerjee was arrested after hours of interrogation in Kolkata today. The CBI is said to have questioned Mr. Mitra on his connections with the Saradha Chit fund scam crime accused Mr. Sudipta Sen, and on Mr. Mitra’s Bank accounts, the sources of alleged illegal funds to his several Bank accounts.
