Sarabjit cremated with state honours

The remains of Sarabjit Singh who died in Pakistan after been brutally beaten up by his jail inmates, has been consigned to flames. The state funeral took place at his village Bhikhiwind in Tarn Taran district this afternoon.

Punjab chief Minister Mr. Prakash Singh Badal AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi, Minister of State of External Affairs Mrs Parneet Kaur along with many leaders from various political parties paid tributes by laying wreaths.

A large crowd gathered there to join the funeral procession. The body of Sarabjit Singh was last night handed over to his family after the post-mortem.

Meanwhile, the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, HRCP has demanded action against all those who played role in the assault on Sarabjit Singh, who died in a Lahore hospital on Wednesday. The HRCP called upon Islamabad and New Delhi to take urgent measures to prevent the incident from undermining bilateral ties and to improve the lot of detainees from the other country in each other’s prisons.
