Shooter Sanjeev Rajput has been honoured with the 'Services Best Sportsman' award for 2009-10 by Air Marshall P V Naik in New Delhi. The Master Chief Petty Officer – II of Indian Navy had, on August 29, won the Arjuna Award for shooting. Hailing from Jagadhiri, Haryana, Rajput joined Indian Navy in 1999 in the gunnery branch. During training Sanjeev performed well with small arms and was selected in the Indian Naval Musketry team. He has participated in over 40 international events (10 Mtr Air Rifle and 50 Mtr Rifle prone) winning over 30 medals, including two gold medals and a silver, in the 8th Commonwealth Federation Shooting Championship this year. He also won a silver medal in 10 Mtr Air Rifle in the International Shooting Sport Federation World Cup, Sydney in March 2010.
