Sanjay Mitra took over as the new Defence Secretary succeeding G Mohan Kumar. <br/><br/>A 1982 batch West Bengal cadre IAS officer, Mr Mitra is a Post-Graduate in Physics and Economics. <br/><br/>He was earlier Secretary, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways at the centre and had also worked as Chief Secretary of West Bengal.
