Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna failed to assure India its first medal of the Rio Olympics as they lost the Mixed Doubles semi-final. The pair could not capitalise on the strong first set victory, and gave away the match in the tie breaker to the American team of Venus Williams and Rajeev Ram. The scoreline read, 6-2, 2-6 and 3-10 in the tie breaker. Sania and Bopanna still have a chance to win a medal as they will play in the Bronze medal match against the Czech team.In some sensational sprint, women's reigning Olympic and World Champion Shelly Ann Fraser Pryce of Jamiaca has been toppled by her compatriot Elaine Thompson. In the 100m women's final, Elaine recorded a a time of 10.71 seconds to be named the new "Fastest Woman on the Planet". In 10,000m Brit MO Farah retained his Olympic Gold with a time of 27 min 5.17 seconds, even after tumbling mid way his race. Though Kenyan and Ethiopian tried to block his way but he came out in the last 200m to be the Champion.And, the most decorated Olympian in the Games History, Michael Phelps just took his legacy to an another level. After winning the 4x100m medley event, probably his last swim in an Olympics, he has now 23 Gold.
