Wimbledon Tennis doubles champion Sania Mirza has been recommended for the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award. Sports Minister Sarbanada Sonowal has recommended Sania's name for the highest honour given for achievement in sports. This was informed by Ajit Sharan, Secretary in the Sports Ministry in New Delhi today. He however made it clear that the final decision rest with the Awards Committee. Sania won her career's first ever women's doubles Grand Slam title with Swiss partner Martina Hingis in June this year.
