Sania Mirza-Martina Hingis win women's doubles title

In the Wimbledon Tennis Championship, Sania Mirza and her Swiss partner Martina Hingis produced a stirring fightback to lift the women's doubles title. In the final played late last night, the Indo-Swiss pair defeated Russian duo of Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina 5-7, 7-6, 7-5. This is Sania's first-ever women's doubles Grand Slam title, although she has won three mixed doubles titles at the majors. With this title, Sania also became the first Indian women to win a Wimbledon title.Today, India's Leander Paes will be seen in mixed doubles final action, along with Martina Hingis. Seventh seed Indo-Swiss pair will be playing fifth seeded Austrian Alexander Peya and Timea Babos of Hungary for the Mixed doubles crown.The most awaited clash of Wimbledon, the finals of men's singles event will also be taking place today, as defending champion and world number one Novak Djokovic takes on seven time champion and current number two Roger Federer.President Pranab Mukherjee has congratulated Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis for winning the Wimbledon women's doubles title. In a tweet, Mr Mukherjee said, Sania's achievement will inspire the youth of India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis for winning the Wimbledon women's doubles title. In a tweet, Mr Modi said, both Hingis and Mirza played wonderful tennis and registered a fantastic win. He said, India is felling proud and very happy on this achievement.
