Sania Mirza and her American team-mate crash out of Madrid Open

India's Sania Mirza and her American partner Bethanie Mattek-Sands have crashed out of the Madrid Open Tennis tournament in Spain. In its pre-quarterfinal match on Wednesday, the Indo-American duo lost to the Russian-Czech combination of Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Lucie Safarova, in straight sets, 5-7, 1-6.In the Men's Doubles, the Indian duo of Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna and the Indo-Austrian pair of Leander Paes and Jurgen Melzer will play their pre-quarterfinal matches later today.In the Women's Singles, World Number three Victoria Azarenka of Belarus made a shock exit from the tournament on Wednesday. Former World Number One, Azarenka was stunned by Russia's unseeded Ekaterina Makarova, 6-1, 2-6, 3-6.In the Men's Singles, top seeds like Spain's Rafael Nadal and David Ferrer, Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic and Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga advanced into the pre-quarterfinals on Wednesday.
