Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza has crashed out of the Women's singles in the Wimbledon Tennis Championships. In the first round of the event in London on Monday, she lost to 55th ranked Angelique Kerber of Germany in straight sets 4-6, 1-6. The 113rd ranked Sania is making her comeback to the courts after a three-month injury lay-off. In Women's doubles, Sania will compete partnering Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark. The Indo-Dane duo will be up against Anne Keothavong and Melanie South of Great Britain in the opening round. Second seed Venus Williams took a confident first step towards a sixth Wimbledon title. She eased past Paraguay's Rosanna De Los Rios in the first round at the All England Club. The American won in straight sets 6-3, 6-2. Kim Clijsters won easily in her first Wimbledon match since 2006, beating Maria Elena Camerin 6-0, 6-3. In the Men's Singles, six-time champion Roger Federer overcame a two-set deficit to avert a first round upset. He beat 60th ranked Alejandro Falla of Clombia 5-7, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6, 6-0. No. 7 seeded Nikolay Davydenko also overcame a two-set deficit to defeat Kevin Anderson.
