Sania Mirza sailed into the pre-quarterfinals of the women's singles Tennis event at the Guangzhou Asian Games with a straight set victory over Wing Yau Venise Chan of Hong Kong on Thursday.Sania took just 50 minutes to tame Chan 6-1, 6-0 in her first round encounter. Sania will next face the winners of the match between sixth seed Shuai Zhang of Hong Kong and Nepal's Malika Rana. Poojashree Venkatesha, the other Indian in the fray will face seventh seed Chen Kai Chang of Taipei in her opening match later in the day.
