Sania Mirza and her Russian partner Elena Vesnina have stormed into the quarter-finals of the women's doubles in the Madrid Open tennis tournament. In the second round of the thirtyfive lakh euro event in Madrid, the duo beat the Russian-Australian combination of Nadia Petrova and Anastasia Rodionova in straight sets 6-3 7-5. Sania and Elena now have a tough job at hand as they face second seeds Kveta Peschke of Czech Republic and Katarina Serbotnik of Slovania in the last-eight round. The second seeds saw off the challenge of Spanish team of Lourdes Lino Dominguez and Laura Pous-Tio 6-2 1-6 10-3 in their second round clash of the WTA Premier event.
