In the first round of the event at Charleston, United States, she overcame asluggish start to beat Aamaerican Alison Riske in three sets 2-6, 6-3, 6-3. Sania had entered the main draw through qualifying route. She will next take on another local player in Vania King, who ousted 16th seed Russian Vera Dushevina 6-4, 7-6 in her opening round of the 721,000 U.S. dollar hard court event.In the doubles event, Sania and her Russian partner Elena Vesnina will take on second seed Americans Lisa Raymond and Liezel Huber in the opening round match.
