Eleven eminent personalities will be conferred with the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowship Awards and thirty six artists with Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards for the year 2011.

The persons who will be awarded Akademi Fellowship include Mukund Lath, Hariprasad Chaurasia, Shivkumar Sharma, Amjad Ali Khan, Umayalpuram Kasiviswanatha Sivaraman, Mohan Chandrasekaran, Rajkumar Singhajit Singh, Kalamandalam Gopi, Padma Subrahmanyam, Chandrasekhar Basavanneppa Kambara and Heisnam Kanhailal.

The thirty six eminent artists who will be honoured with Sangeet Natak Akademi Award belong to the field of Music, Dance and Theatre.

An official release says, the President Pranab Mukherjee will give away these prestigious awards at a special ceremony on the 9th of this month in New Delhi.

The Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowships awardees will receive three lakh rupees, besides an angavastram and a tamrapatra. While the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award winner will get one lakh rupees, angavastram and tamrapatra.

Both the awards are recognized as the highest national honours conferred on performing artists, gurus and scholars of the performing arts
