Sandeep Sejwal qualifies for 2012 London Olympics

Sandeep Sejwal has become the first Indian swimmer to qualify for the 2012 London Olympics. At the FINA World Championships in Shanghai on Sunday, Sandeep clocked 1 minute 2.62 seconds in the heats of the 100 metre breaststroke event where the invitation time was 1 minute 2.92 seconds. It was certainly a big feat for the Delhi swimmer, who missed out on medals in the Commonwealth Games as well as the Asian Games. Sandeep will now also be aiming to qualify for the Olympics in the 50 and 200 metres in the breaststroke category.Meanwhile, Virdhawal Khade clocked 24.65 seconds in the 50 metre butterfly event, missing the semi-final by 0.69 seconds. He will now be focusing on the 50 metre and 100 metre freestyle events to make the Olympic marks.
