Bollywood actor Salman Khan created a controversy by posting a series of tweets showing sympathy for death-row convict in 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blast Yakub Memon and said that his brother Tiger Memon instead deserves to be hanged for the crime. Taking a jibe at Tiger Memon being called as 'Tiger', Salman tweeted saying Tiger does not deserve to be addressed as Tiger as he is a fugitive. Salman in his tweet requested Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to inform India if Tiger Memon is present in his country.<br/><br/>Reacting to Salman's indirect reference of Yakub as innocent, public prosecutor Ujwal Nikam said today that Salman's reference to Yakub as innocent amounts to contempt of the court order and legal action can be initiated against him.<br/><br/>Younger brother of Tiger Memon and an accused in 1993 Mumbai serial blasts, Yakub Memon is likely to be hanged on July 30 following an order of a special court on April 29. On July 21, Yakub had filed a curative petition before the Supreme Court, which had also been dismissed. Subsequently, Yakub filed a fresh petition demanding stay in his execution with the Supreme Court, the hearing of which is likely to be held tomorrow. Besides, Yakub also submitted a mercy petition before the Maharashtra governor on July 22 for which Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao yesterday held discussions with the Home and Law Department officials and a decision is likely to be taken on the matter shortly.
