Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid today called for reservation to the backward Muslims. Talking to reporters in New Delhi, he said that the separate reservation for a community is not possible and it can be provided to them under 27 per cent seats reserved for other backward classes.

Reacting to the statement, Congress leader Rashid Alvi hailed the proposal of Salman Khurshid.

CPIM on the other hand is in favour of discussion on the issue before any final decision is taken.
