Yemen’s President Ali Abdullah Saleh has said that he wants an early presidential election to end a political crisis in the country. Addressing a crowd of his supporters in capital Sana on Friday, he said that he calls for an early presidential election in a democratic way in order to avoid bloodshed and his people will remain steadfast against the coup movement. He did not specify a date for elections or mention a Gulf Cooperation council proposal to leave power.The opposition has accused Saleh of stalling the deal. Thousands of opponents of President Saleh gathered in Capital Sana chanting slogans against him. Yemen is reeling from more than three months of street protests. Yesterday, US President Barack Obama said that Saleh needs to follow through on his commitment to transfer power.
