Saina rallied brilliantly from a first game loss to finally mow down Mew Choo Wong of Malaysia to win the gold, while the duo of Ashwini Ponnappa and Jwala Gutta captured the doubles crown.Though the much hyped Men's Hockey team was mauled by Australia 8-0 in the final, the double gold in Badminton piloted India to the second spot in the medals tally with 38 gold, 27 silver and 36 bronze.The hosts also added a bronze in table Tennis when Poulomi Ghatak and Mouma Das trounced Australian duo in the women's doubles title. England ahead of India going into the last day of the games finished third with a total haul of 37 gold, 59 silver and 46 bronze, while Australia ended up in the top position with a huge heist of 74 gold, 55 silver and 48 bronze in the final tally.The successful organization of the games and the grand finale have belied all predictions of prophets of doom. The country's biggest ever sporting extravaganza, the 19th edition of the Commonwealth Games will also be remembered as much for India's ability to pull off a world class mega-sporting event.
