Saina top seed at India Grand Prix Badminton

Syed Modi International India Grand Prix Gold Badminton Championship took off in Lucknow on Tuesday. Only some qualifying matches were scheduled for the day.Women's Singles top seed Saina Nehwal will commence her campaign on Wednesday. The Olympic Bronze medallist Indian will face Russia's Ksenia Polikarpova in her opening fixture. In another women's singles match, second seeded P.V. Sindhu of India is pitted against Li Lian Yang of Malaysia.Former world champion Taufik Hidayat of Indonesia leads the men's line-up in the 120,000 US Dollar Championship. Hidayat will meet India's Pratul Joshi in his first match tomorrow. Ajay Jayaram, Chetan Anand and Anup Sridhar are among the other prominent Indian players who will figuring in Wednesday's fixtures.AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that around 150 top shuttlers from 12 countries, including hosts India, will clash for the top honours in singles, doubles and mixed doubles categories.
