India began its Asian Games campaign with a winning note by Saina Nehwal in the Women's team event in Badminton. She thrashed Adriyanti Firdasari of Indonesia 21-16 21-17 in the first Women's Singles match in just 30 minutes. The other Indian Arvind Bhatt, however, lost his singles match to Yu Hsing of Chinese Taipei in the Men's team event. India's women paddlers were also off to brilliant start in the team competition of the Asian Games as they whitewashed Laos 3-0 in their opening group B tie.Kumaresan Shamini provided India a sound start by thrashing Thiphakone Southamavong 11-5 11-7 11-4 in just 12 minutes. Madhurika S Patkar then made it 2-0 in India's favour with a 11-7 11-3 9-11 11-6 win over Sengdavieng Douangpanya in the rubber two. Mouma Das needed just 11 minutes to clinch the tie in India's favour as she drubbed Sengdavy Phiathep 11-5 11-6 11-2 in match three.India are now placed second in four-team group B behind Singapore, who beat Maldives with an identical 3-0 margin. .
