Olympic medallist Saina Nehwal, Kidambi Srikanth and H S Prannoy have made it to the pre-quarterfinals of the Singles event at the World badminton Championships. In Jakarta today, World Number Two Saina, who got a bye in the first round, easily overcame Hong Kong's Cheung Ngan Yi 21-13, 21-9 in the second round match. Saina will next take on the fourth seeded Sayaka Takahashi of Japan. In the Men's Singles, World No. 3 Srikanth defeated Chinese Taipei's Hsu Jen Hao 21-14, 21-15, while world No. 12 Prannoy beat Uganda's Edwin Ekiring 21-14, 21-19. However, Parupalli Kashyap bowed out after losing to his Vietnamese rival in three games. In the Women's Doubles competition, the duo of Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa beat Chinese Taipei pair of Hsueh Pei Chen and Wu Ti Jung in straight games 21-10, 21-18.
