Saina recommended for Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award

National Sports Awards Selection Committee has recommended India's ace shuttler Saina Nehwal's name for Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award, the country's highest sporting honour, for her outstanding performance on the badminton court. The Selection Committee headed by P T Usha, which met in New Delhi on Friday, decided to bestow the prestigious award on Saina after considering her brilliant performance in the last one year. Saina was conferred the Arjuna Award last year and recently she was chosen as one of the six brand ambassador for the Commonwealth Games, to be held in October. Expressing happiness, the World number two Saina Nehwal said national awards gives one a lot of motivation. National coach and her mentor Pullela Gopichand also heaped praise on his protege and said it is the result of her hard work that she achieved the award.
