India's Saina Nehwal has cruised into the quarter-finals of the Women's Singles in the World Badminton Championships. In the third round of the event in Paris on Thursday, Saina defeated Russia's Ella Diehl in straight games, 21-14 21-18. The second seeded Indian took just 40 minutes to beat the 13th seeded Russian to sail into the last-eight stage. Saina will next take on the winner of the match betweensixth seed Chinese Shixian Wang and 11th seed Jie Yao of theNetherlands.The Indian mixed doubles duo of V Diju and Jwala Gutta have also entered the quarterfinals. They overcame early sluggishness to beat Singapore's Chayut Triyachart and Lei Yao in three games 14-21, 21-18, 21-14.The Indian duo will now face 12th seeds South Korea's Sung Hyun Ko and Jung Eun Ha for a place in the semifinals. The Korean pair progressed by shocking fifth seeds Joachim Fischer Nielsen and Christinna Pedersen of Denmark.
