Delhi High Court has held, Sahitya Akademi awardees are not eligible to return their awards as they are granted after<br/>considerable deliberations.<br/><br/>In 2015, several writers, poets and artists had returned their awards protesting against the Akademi's silence on the murder of M M Kalburgi. Dismissing a public interest litigation on framing guidelines to return the price money, the court said, the issue raised by the petitioners deserves no further consideration, since the Akademi's constitution does not provide for taking back any award once given.
