Sahara Chief Subrata Roy was produced in a Lucknow court on Friday after his arrest by UP police. Chief Judicial Magistrate Anand Kumar Yadav directed the police to keep Roy in custody till 4th March and ensure that he is by then produced before the Supreme Court which had issued non-bailable warrant against him on 26th of this month on a case relating to non-refund of 20,000 crore rupees of investors.
Earlier, Supreme Court declined to hear Roy's plea for withdrawing non-bailable warrant issued by it against him in the contempt case. Appearing for Roy, senior advocate Ram Jethmalani pleaded before a bench headed by Justice K S Radhakrishnan for recall of the arrest warrant issued by the apex court on February 26.
However, Justice Radhakrishnan and Justice Vikramajit Sen said, it was not possible for the special bench to assemble today to hear the case.
