SAFF Women's Football: India to take on B'desh in inaugural match on Friday

At a time when the men's football team has grabbed the Nehru Cup title, Indian women team too is all fired up to do an en'core. The Indian squad, led by Oinam Bembem Devi, will take on Bangladesh in the inaugural match of the SAFF Women's Football Championship in Colombo on Friday.<br/><br/>Placed in Group A, India will face Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Bhutan. In Group B Pakistan, Nepal, Maldives and Afghanistan will fight it out for a place in the elimination rounds. The event will be held under round robin system and a leading and runner up team from each group will make it to the semifinals to be held on September 14. The final will be played on September 16.<br/><br/>The 30-member women's squad has been training intensely since mid-July to prepare themselves for the upcoming Championship. India had won the inaugural edition of the tournament hosted by Bangladesh in 2010, defeating Nepal 1-0.
