In the SAFF Football Championship Maldives crushed Sri Lanka 10-0 in the group B match played at Dasarath Stadium In Kathmandu this evening. Maldives created history as records tumbled in the eighth edition of the SAFF Champoinship. For the beleaguered Sri Lankans who were reduced to ten men as the goalie Mohamed was shown a red card early in the game for fouling captain Ali Ashfaq in the sixteen minute of the game proved expensive as the he went to score six of the ten goals .He has become the highest scorer of goals in a single match in SAFF championship. Maldives had scored early in the fourth minute and with the goalie being red carded led to a complete rout of the Sri Lankans. This has set a new record in the SAFF Championship with the earlier record of the highest goal difference being Maldives defeating Afghanistan 9-1 in 2005 .
