SAFF Football: India beat Maldives 1-0; enter final

India entered the final of the SAFF Football Championship after beating Maldives 1-0 in the second semi-final match at the Dashrath Stadium in Kathmandu on Monday. Arnab Mondal scored the match winning goal in extra time. India will now meet Afghanistan in the final to be played on Wednesday. At half time, neither of the two teams had scored any goal. The Indians who made it through to group A, missed their skipper and striker Sunil Chettri due to two yellow cards received in the earlier matches. India had entered the semifinal with a win against Pakistan, a draw against Bangladesh and loss to Nepal. Earlier, Afghan entered the final after defeating hosts Nepal 1-0 in the first semi-final.
