SAFF Cup: India, Maldives to clash for title in Dhaka

The stage is all set for the title clash between India and Maldives today in the Bangabndhu South Asian Football Federation Cup. The final match will be played in the Bangabandhu NaXtional Stadium at Dhaka later this evening. Defending Champions Maldives have been unbeaten in the tournament so far, with a draw against Nepal and winning against Afghanistan, India and Srilanka to reach the final. Despite having beaten India in the group match, Maldives Coach Istvan Urbanyi told our Dhaka Correspondent that the final match will be a difficult one since the Indian team has some good young talented players. Maldives may also miss midfielder Ibrahim Fazeel due to injury. India defeated Nepal and Afghanistan and Bangladesh to reach the final. India has also been hit by injury problems with mid fielders . Coach Sukhwinder Singh said that past records in the tournament will not matter and everything will depend on who plays best in the final which is going to be a tough match. He is is hopeful that his boys will live up to the challenge to win the final and take home the SAFF cup for a record fifth time.
