Tourism Minister Subodh Kant Sahai has said safety and security of tourists should be of utmost concern to everyone in the country. The statement came in the wake abduction of foreign tourists in Odisha.
Addressing a Consultative Committee meeting of his Ministry in New Delhi on Wedneday, Mr. Sahai said such incidents cause an adverse impact on the flow of foreign tourists.

The Minister said the government has set a target to increase country’s share in world tourist arrivals to 1 percent from the present 0.6 percent in the 12th Five Year Plan.
He said under the target over 11 million foreign tourist will arrive in the country by the year 2016 and it will generate 2.5 crore additional jobs in the country.
