Safety of mining workers cannot be compromised: Santosh Kumar Gangwar

<span style="color: #222222;">Union Minister for Labour and Employment Santosh Kumar Gangwar has said that safety of mining workers cannot be compromised. He said that it is government's responsibility to provide a safe working environment to those engaged in such hazardous conditions. Addressing the 12th National Conference on Safety in Mines in New Delhi today, Mr Gangwar said, in order to comply with the required safety standards in the mines, it is very important that the safety norms go along with the increased complexities. He said, his Ministry has taken several important steps in this regard. The Minister said that there is also a need to look into the security measures for private mines.<br />''<br />''AIR correspondent reports that this two-day conference will deliberate upon the emerging safety issues in mines to identify the thrust areas for improvement in the safety standards in the mines. Organized by Directorate General of Mines Safety, the conference is expected to come out with important recommendations suggesting measures for further improvement in safety, welfare and health of mine workers.</span><br />
