Safety Convention on Building and Infrastructure begins today

A three-day Safety Convention on Building and Infrastructure began in New Delhi today. Inaugurating the function, Delhi Chief Secretary Rakesh Mehta underlined the need to construct environment friendly and low cost buildings and infrastructure based on emission free materials and energy – efficient designs. He said that the high quality eco habitat and infrastructure should include basic green features like use of non- toxic paints, recycled materials, energy efficient insulation and low water plumbing materials. AIR correspondent reports that experts from the various fields including town planners, safety engineers and experts from disaster managements are participating in the convention to deliberate on issues related to safety and quality of buildings.
