Safdarjung doctors call off strike

The doctors of Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi called off their strike today afternoon after an assurance from the hospital management of proper security measures for the staff. According to the Chief Medical Officer of the hospital Dr. M. K. Mohanty, the strike has been called off and the resident doctors have started giving services. He said the management, in a meeting with the Resident Doctors Association's members, gave an assurance to strengthen the security. Earlier, nearly 1,200 resident doctors, including MBBS students, of the hospital had launched an indefinite strike in the wee hours after a nurse and a guard were beaten up by the relatives of a patient.
