Union Minister of State for Statistics and Programme Implementation D.V.Sadananda Gowda inaugurated two day all India workshop of Trainers for the Periodic Labour Force Survey in Bengaluru today in which a rotational panel sampling design will be used in urban area and fresh sample villages will be selected each year for for rural areas. <br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that development and good governance are the main parameters for the nations development. <br/><br/>He emphasized the need of adequate, more frequently updated and reliable data on various aspects of labour market of the country, which serve as critical input to the planners and policy makers both within the government and outside. <br/><br/>At present, labour market data are not available for short periods of the years like in a quarter. <br/><br/>Hence, there is an urgent necessity to conduct Periodic Labour Force Survey to generate indicators of labour market at a short span in every quarter he said. <br/><br/>To fulfill this requirement Statistics and Programme Implementation ministry has taken up periodic labor force survey from January 2017.
