In Punjab, the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal-BJP combine has swept the Municipal Corporation polls for Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Amritsar and Patiala. In Jalandhar, SAD-BJP alliance has won 30 out of 60 wards, while Congress has won 22. Seven wards have gone to Independents and one to People’s Party of Punjab. In Amritsar, the ruling alliance has won 48 out of 65 wards, while Congress has managed four and the CPI one. Independents have won 11 wards. Result of ward number 3 has not been declared due to some technical problem.In Patiala, out of 50 seats, SAD has won 32, while its alliance partner BJP has won 7. Eight seats have gone to Congress and two have been won by independents. Repolling has been ordered at a booth in ward number one.In Ludhiana, out of 75, the alliance has won 42 wards, Congress 11 and Independents 17. Results of five wards are awaited.
